Shirley Hurt's third single, Charioteer, serves up more of her debut, self-titled album's minimalist avant-garde folk-pop. The track slinks forward in an almost cabaret-like fashion, with quiet, brushed drumming and fingerpicked guitar. Hurt weaves a story lyrically with a sultry baritone vocal performance while sparse piano and saxophone punctuate the track's final chorus.
